Nepal has picked Binod Poudel’s social drama Bulbul to represent the country at next year’s Oscars in the international feature film category.
Swastima Khadka has been portraying the role of protagonist Ranakala, who is a young mother waiting for her husband to be back for years falls in love with a guy while she looks after her paralyzed father-in-law.
The movie also was bagged the best film and actress trophy in National Film Award. It’s actress Mrs Khadka was named in as best actress in Saarc Film festival in 2019 also.
According to Mr Chiranjivi Guragain, who is the general secretary of selection committee of Oscar’s international feature category informed that only Bulbul was submit for the selection competition.
‘Then we will unanimously select the movie formally’ he said, ‘there is no needed for competition, when one movie submitted its registration’. However, the committee has not been officially finalized the selection Bulbul, we have to wait for few days.
Nepal has been nominated one time for what used to be called the best foreign-language film Oscar Eric Valli’s The Himalayan.
