Nepal’s ‘Red Phallus’ Gets Berlin Film Festival Premiere : Catch Pics


Nepali movie ‘Red Phallus’ has been premiered at 69th Berlin Film Festival at Germany on Sunday. Movie got brilliant review from the audience.

Director Gyel Tashi, Producer Ram Krishna Pokharel, Kristina Konrad, actress Tshering Euden and Sri Lankan editor Saman Alvitigala were attended the premiere. Chair of Film Critics Society of Nepal, Mr. Yangesh also was there.

Set in a remote valley in Bhutan, the film follows a teenage girl who lives with her father, a traditional craftsman of wooden phalluses. Feeling trapped by the belief systems of her community, she starts a relationship with a married man from the lowest caste of the village.

The film is produced by Gyeltshen’s Studio 108 in collaboration with Kathmandu-based Icefall Productions, founded by rising Nepalese producer Ram Krishna Pokharel, and Kristina Konrad’s Berlin-based production outfit weltfilm.
