The government has backed out of the decision to organise the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Nepal.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Raj Joshi, the government has decided to drop the idea of oragnising IIFA in the country. With this, the preparations that had begun to organise the award ceremony will be stopped.
The Parliamentary International Relations Committee, on July 2, had directed the government to immediately halt all works related to organising the 20th IIFA Awards here.
Moreover, the government’s decision to organise the Indian award ceremony in the country using funds from the national treasury received criticisims from all quarters, also leading to some protests.
