With a powerful star-cast and a appealing subject, Alia Bhatt starrer Bollywood movie “Kalank” has managed to generate a lot of interest, from the audiences across Nepal. The latest one, MM learned that the movie is banned in Nepal.
The Film Development Board has not given the permission to censor clearance. Board Chair Mr. Keshav Bhattarai, who was appointed last month in position, took the step to banned foreign movie in Nepal. ‘The decision is taken by chairman’ censor department head of FDB Girish Sharma said.
There was meeting in later of the day on Tuesday between distributor and board chair at office of Motion Picture Association. But, meeting couldn’t forged the agreement between rivalry groups. The decision came this time when, Chair Bhattarai’s producing movie ‘Yatra’ is running at theaters.
Largest multiplex chain in Nepal, QFX Cinemas has opposed the decision of FDB, saying that the step is being guided by ‘conflict of interests’ and ‘misuse of authority’. Owner of the QFX Cinemas, Mr. Bhaskar Dhunaga said that board has not authority to set the release date.
Insider said, board chair Bhattarai was in positive mood to give Wednesday release for Kalank, that’s why his movie ‘Yatra’ got good auditorium in Gopikrishna, Ganga and Guna theaters, but later he changed his plan. There is no confirm to Friday release of Kalank. Stay Update !!!
