Bishnu Sharma is a journalist and movie critic, focusing on editing, reporting and digital strategy. He is the incumbent Chief-Editor for Kathmandu based movie and entertainment portal moviemandu.com. He is the secretary of Film Critics Society of Nepal (FICSON) and member of Piracy Control Committee for Nepal Film Development Board, regulated body of Nepal government.
He was most recently the Editor for most visited website MEROCINEMA, where he managed and edited the editorial coverage including desk. Previously, he worked as the columnist for the Shukrabar Weekly and Nagarik daily of Nepal Republic Media. Entertainment editor at The weekly newspaper YO SATAA, which was chief-edited by senior journalist Kishore Nepal, where he oversaw the paper’s lifestyle and entertainment news coverage.
At the PAHILOPOST, he was responsible for entertainment news producing, movie criticism and multimedia elements. Now, he is doing the multimedia work along with journalism in MOVIEMANDU, shaping its online strategy and building innovative tools to enhance foreign and national entertainment coverage. Bishnu done his career’s best reporting from Baglung and Mustang district for state own Gorkhapatra daily.
For the Gorkhapatra, ho reported social, political and environment issues, which was largely preferred by Government authorities. Bishnu has reported from Myagdi, Mustang and Baglung, and his work has appeared in Dristi Saptahik, Nepali Times, Annapurna Post,Pokhara Patra and the Many radios including Baglung, Dhaulagiri, Barahi and Machhapuchhre among others. He edited many weekly newspapers in outskirts at Baglung and Myagdi. However, his career started by literature magazine called Ratna and Nawa Pratibha. Bishnu has an Graduate degree from Trubhuwan University in Humanities.
He has been awarded by many honor including Transparency International Nepal, UNICEF, Federation of Nepali Journalist. He being awarded the diploma as feature film maker by Hollywood Film Institute, which was provided during the two day Dov Simens school in Kathmandu, organized by US Embassy. Sharma has regularly hosted MM TV specials for MOVIEMANDU. such as Movie Review, Celebs Talk Show, Business and Trade talk and ground zero reporting.
“Rupak Risal has studied Film Analysis and Creative Writing in the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He is also a graduate of Nepal Press Institute and has a diploma in Journalism. Rupak regularly takes part in formal and informal cinema discussion forums. He works as a subtitlist for Nepali movies in his spare time and has special interest in music, art, history and literature. Rupak reviews movies for Nepali viewers.”
