There are some movies in the world, which are apparently based on acid attack incidents over the women and girls. Bollywood actress Kangna Raunat is in process to make the movie about it. Pakistani documentary ‘Saving Face’ had won the Oscar Award last year.
In Nepal, Rekha Thapa starrer social drama ‘Rudrapriya’ has been made and will be released on 2nd Kartik. The movie depicts the real story of two acid attack survivor girls in Kathmandu and Rekha being portrayed in as pivotal character.
On Wednesday, the world is marking the girl’s day and obviously, ‘Rudrpriya’ has raised the issue of women empowerment and message of anti-domestic violence.
Few years ago Rekha went to the rehabilitation centre in Lainachaur, Kathmandu and met with some teenage girls who were being victimized with domestic violence. At that time, Thapa declared the movie about it. The idea concept was born at that time.
Later, Thapa went to a private hospital where, she met with two acid attack survivors in Sinamangal. One of the victim girls was targeted by her boyfriend for seeking the revenge. Then Thapa made her solid idea to make the movie regarding it and began to write the script.
We could hint it from the official poster of movie, where half part of face being exposed. ‘This is the movie with arts and thought’ Rekha said, ‘we are not making the movie with light comedy indeed’. She requested to audience that watch the movie with perception of message and entertainment.
Bobby Bhupal Singh directorial movie made under the banner of Rekha Films and executive produced by Ramesh MK Poudel. Movie is slated to release on 2nd Kartik.
